Our social marketing campaigns are designed to educate Newfoundlanders and Labradorians about workplace health and safety and focus on how to avoid injuries.

Workplace injuries hurt the most at home

Workplace safety impacts everything we do – at work, at home and at play. In fact, it’s what – and who – we come to at the end of the day that makes our safety so valuable.

The new injury prevention campaign from WorkplaceNL underlines the lasting impacts of work-related injuries and the ways they manifest in our daily lives.

2018 Atlantic Partnership - TV Spots

Water Fight

In Water Fight, a healthcare worker sustains a back injury while helping a patient on the job and it changes how she does yard work and play with her family.

Recital

In Recital, a mother sustains occupational noise-induced hearing loss and can no longer clearly hear her daughter practicing the piano.

Dinner

In Dinner, we see a mother struggle to break her habit of setting four places at the table after her husband dies from a fall on the job.

2018 Atlantic Partnership -  Radio Spots

We have seen significant progress in workplace safety over the last decade. But there is still more to do.

On average, 13 workers in Newfoundland and Labrador are injured or fall ill due to their work each day. That’s 13 families whose lives have been changed by a workplace injury, illness or fatality.

This series of commercials were developed in partnership with the workers’ compensation boards of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador. Across Atlantic Canada, some 15,000 workers suffer time-loss injuries at work each year.

Threads of Life, Canada’s national organization for workplace family tragedy support, is also a partner in the campaign. Threads of Life exists to support people who have suffered a workplace tragedy, and some of those courageous family members provided input on these television commercials. We sincerely thank them.
