How to Register

Once we receive your application, we will contact you by phone or in writing if we need additional information.  Once we have all the required information, an account will be set up with a seven digit firm number and be assigned a Newfoundland Industrial Classification (NIC) Code.

The firm number should be provided on all correspondence and payments sent to the Commission as it identifies your company.  You will also be asked to provide it when you contact us by phone for information on your account.

The NIC code describes the type of industry your company conducts business in and a rate is assigned to each NIC code which is called the “base rate” and is used to calculate your annual assessment (see how much will it cost).

If you operated in the year(s) prior to registration, assessment(s) for those years will also be calculated and late registration penalties applied for each year.

You will then be sent an invoice which must be paid within 30 days of the invoice date (see paying your account).
