WorkplaceNL would like to provide clarity for our clients receiving chiropractic care.
Our Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with chiropractors in the province has expired, and many chiropractors have formally terminated their agreement with us, effective April 23, 2016. As a result, there is some confusion around continuity of chiropractic care for injured workers.
We do not wish to disrupt the medical treatment and early and safe return-to-work plans of injured workers, and we recognize that chiropractic treatment is an effective part of recovery and medical management for some of our clients.
Therefore, injured workers who are entitled to health care benefits from WorkplaceNL as a result of a workplace injury may receive care from their chiropractor and WorkplaceNL will continue to pay their chiropractor directly for approved services at current rates.
Injured workers are not required to pay out-of-pocket for chiropractic treatment under their WorkplaceNL claim. The chiropractor has the billing relationship with WorkplaceNL, subject to properly completed forms and invoices. If an injured worker has been billed directly for chiropractic services, they are asked to contact WorkplaceNL to make suitable arrangements.
If an injured workers’ chiropractor will no longer provide services, they are asked to please contact their claim manager. Our health care consultants will work with your primary health care provider to help find an alternate chiropractor or consider other available treatment options in your area.
